Recent research revealed that parents would prefer more informal contact with teachers in order to find out how their children are getting on in school rather than attending parents' evenings.

The lollipop strikes back
In a reaction to increasing incidents of ‘lollipop rage' local councils are now arming their crossing guards with hi-tech equipment which will expose the abusive motorists in question. Lollipop signs with in-built video cameras to record the episodes and the car number plates will be sent out to lollipop ladies and men nationwide.

A leading fatherhood think-tank has recently announced a 12 point action plan dedicated to helping to make sure that fathers are not ‘shut out' of their children's lives. This comes amidst claims that maternity services are not concerned with involving fathers from the beginning of their child's life.

Daddies don't do bedtime stories
Research for the National Year of Reading found that less than half of fathers read bedtime stories to their children on a regular basis. One in 10 fathers were not confident enough to read bedtime stories and felt it was a role better suited to mothers.
