What does my child learn in Foundation Stage Science?

 Early science is introduced indirectly through activities that encourage your child to explore, problem solve, observe, predict, think, make decisions and to talk about what they do and see in the world around them. Foundation Stage Drama

Your child will experience drama through role play as part of the creative development section (or strand) of the early learning framework.

Foundation Stage Science

Foundation Stage Art

Your child will be taught to use his or her imagination by dismantling, combining and discarding ideas and materials. The practitioner will provide a variety of materials and resources to stimulate your child's curiosity and for your child to explore and research ideas, imitate and experiment, and develop their own ideas

Early learning in the Foundation Stage

The Foundation Stage (nursery/reception) is for children aged 3-5 and is the first stage of their education. The key focus is on teaching them routine and easing them into the idea of learning in a structured environment

Literacy and Numeracy in the Foundation Stage

Literacy and numeracy are important areas of learning in your child's Foundation Stage. They can be found in lots of everyday activities and can be taught in a variety of different ways

Foundation Stage DT

Early design and technology learning forms part of the learning children acquire under the ‘Knowledge and Understanding of the World' Foundation Stage profile - which also covers geography, history, ICT and science. This forms the basis for following the national curriculum later on

 

Foundation Stage Curriculum

The Foundation Stage is your child's introduction to the National Curriculum. Focusing on children aged 3 to 5, the Foundation Stage begins during your child's time at nursery, and follows them through to the end of their Reception year.

During this stage, your child's learning is encouraged through exploration and play, and is based around the following six key areas:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication, language and literacy
  • Mathematical development
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world
  • Physical development
  • Creative development
