Interpersonal Intelligence
The child with interpersonal intelligence has a natural ability to communicate well with others, and people feel at ease in her presence. More than likely she will be popular, having lots of friends and perhaps is often the one who mediates between others to keep the peace. The child with interpersonal intelligence will often be sympathetic to others' feelings, be good at negotiating and is generally cooperative.
Your child will like
- Being with people
- Social events and activities
- Activities that involve teamwork
- Being the leader rather than follower
Here's how to help your interpersonal intelligent child learn best
- Take advantage of opportunities where your child can learn from others, either by watching, doing or asking questions.
- Use opportunities where your child can work in a team, whether at play or to complete necessities such as homework!
- Can you find someone to mentor your child? Someone you trust, such as an older cousin, family member or friend. This will be particularly inspiring if the person shares an interest your child has.
- Make time to listen to your child talking about what's been happening at school and in extra curricular areas of life. Talking consolidates learning and your child will have a natural propensity to it anyway!
