About Visual Spatial Intelligence

Visual spatial intelligence helps us to appreciate art and creativity, and use our imaginations well. If your child is particularly gifted in this area he will have an innate ability to think and recall in pictures. He likely has a good sense of colour, is good at re-presenting images from memory to picture by drawing or painting. He may draw diagrams and maps very easily, has a good sense of direction. He is also probably quite particular about how he dresses!

Your child enjoys
  • Film and video
  • Posters and pictures
  • Drawing, painting and sculpting
  • Doodling
  • Using colours
  • Making and wearing clothes
  • Photography
Here's how to help your visual spatial intelligent child learn best
  • Make use of film, video, slides, and Power Point presentations to get messages across and to retain them.
  • Use mind maps, symbols, colours and diagrams.
  • Design colourful posters with the key facts from a project or for revision.
  • Visualise events, perhaps images from the war if you are learning about war, to help retain key information.
  • Convert information into diagrams and pictures.
