Just about coping!
At the moment I am a part time mum and part time freelance journalist. I write for business magazines and parenting titles. Before having kids, I was a news editor on a weekly national business magazine.
I started blogging because I wanted to write for myself, rather than to someone else's deadline and brief, as I do as a journalist. I also thought I could satirise the area I live in - 'Nappy Valley' in southwest London.
There are so many ridiculously competitive parents round here and the lifestyle amuses me. The blog started in this vein, but once I got into blogging properly (which took me about six months) it became more about my life and sharing things that amuse, annoy or affect me with other bloggers. I love the friendly nature of blogging, the comments I get on my blog and reading the brilliant posts that others write.
I can't think of a specific one, but I remember that 'Frog in the Field' was the first person to comment on my blog ever (other than friends) and I will be eternally grateful!
There are many excellent blogs, but the inimitable Jaywalker at Belgian Waffling is probably the one that has made me laugh out loud the most.
Seeing how well my two little boys get on together. There are only 19 months between them, so I wasn't sure if there would be terrible rivalry, but at the moment they are the best of friends and do everything together.
It would probably be 'slow down!' as they disappear into the distance on their scooters......
A few weeks ago I had to drag them kicking and screaming from a 'storytelling' session at a local museum. We also got 'constructively dismissed' from a toddler music classes when they were younger. They are very sweet boys, but both very lively and can be quite naughty...
We are about to move to the US so I am more worried about how we are all going to cope with the move! Hopefully it will be a great experience, but it will certainly be a big change for everyone in the family.
It would have to be Obama. I'd ask him whether he ever thought about being President when he was a little boy growing up in Hawaii.
