Please let us know what your favourite film is and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a copy of the new Star Trek film on DVD.
One of my favourite films is A Matter of Life and Death, written and directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
[from Amazon] An extravagant and extraordinary fantasy in which David Niven stars as a downed pilot who must justify his continuing existence to a heavenly panel of judges, because he has made the mistake of falling in love with an American girl (Kim Hunter) when he really should have been dead.
Here's the brilliant opening scene:

I love It's a Wonderful Life too Jaqui. And Casablanca and the Italian Job and a Fellini film called Amarcord. I should have asked for people's top five films - maybe I'll save that for another competition thread.
The Princess Bride.
Heroes. Giants. Villains. Wizards. True Love! - Not just your basic, average, everyday, ordinary, run-of-the-mill, ho-hum fairy tale.
I love Roman holiday, because I watched it when I was tiny and fell in love with Audrey (we are on first name terms). My favourite line is "is this the elevator? No this is my room".
And Zulu, because of the memories it brings back - my Dad and I would snuggle under a tartan blanket every Christmas, scoff sweets and watch it every year, and he'd know Richard Burton's words off by heart.
hmm a tough one as it depends on my mood what film i like so at the moment i am going for 5th element with bruce willis and milla joravitch don't really know why i love this film but i do so there.
OA and starhelen - you don't have avatar pictures yet. Give me a shout if you want a hand with uploading one... http://www.mychild.co.uk/forum/how-to-add-an-avatar-1893.
Mine is Goodnight Mr Tom... amongst many many others I love.
xx
That's a tough call just choosing one film.
I love that film too Michael - but my all time favourite has to be A Wonderful life
