Many parents find choosing their first pushchair a daunting prospect, it's hard to know where to begin. We think the best place to start is to consider the following things:

Are you outdoorsy or a shopaholic? If you go for lots of country walks you will want to choose a pushchair with bigger wheels for coping with rough terrain or you may want a smaller pushchair for negotiating busy shops.

If you mainly travel by car, check the pushchair will fit in your boot! We’ve provided all our pushchair dimensions to assist you. If you mainly use public transport you may want to try out some pushchairs in-store, to see which one you think will be quickest for you to fold when the bus is coming!

Remember to consider where you will store your pushchair. In the porch, hallway or under the stairs? If you are short on space look for a more compact fold.

Many parents prefer the cosiness and complete lie-flat base of a carrycot for their new born. Some carrycots are also suitable for overnight sleeping and therefore double up as a travel cot/moses basket in those early months.

Other Considerations.
If there is a big difference in height between you and your other designated pushchair drivers, check out pushchairs with adjustable handle heights.

Rainy City.
MyChild HQ is based in Manchester so we’re familiar with showers, downpours, drizzles and drips. That’s why all our pushchairs come with a raincover included, our holiday stroller (we’re also optimists!).

Experts at the National Literacy Trust...
report that the use of parent facing pushchairs can positively encourage your child’s language development. Look for this symbol on our parent facing pushchairs.

Whats What....

Travel Systems
Are suitable from birth and have a wheeled chassis onto which a seat unit, car seat and/or carrycot can be fixed. The seat unit can be parent facing or forward facing.

Strollers & Buggys
Have a compact fold and are lighter than travel systems. They are forward-facing and are not compatible with a car seat or carrycot. Some are suitable from birth and others from 6 months onwards.

For two children. Side-by-side strollers are suitable for twins or children of different ages. Tandems have one seat in front of the other and are suitable for children of different ages (rear seat being suitable from birth, front from 6 months).
